Obituary

Janet L. Galpin

November 8, 1954 – May 16, 2025

Janet L. Galpin, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on May 16, 2025, at the age of 70.

Janet was the kind of person you don’t forget. She was the hardest worker you’d ever meet—reliable, determined, and tireless in everything she did. But more than that, she had a big heart. If someone needed help, Janet was there without hesitation.

She was also full of life and personality—a die-hard New York Yankees fan who wore her loyalty with pride, and a devoted lover of pigs, whose joyful collection reflected her playful spirit and sense of humor.

Janet is survived by her loving children: Jason O’Hara, Jessica Galpin, Rebecca Galpin, and Ryan Galpin. She was a proud and devoted grandmother to Damian Ogonowski, Tela and Dax O’Hara, and Caliahna and August Mingle. She also leaves behind her cherished sister, Anita Koscielski, and her dear niece, Emily.

Those who knew Janet will remember her strength, her kindness, and the way she always put others before herself. Her love and presence will continue to live on in all the lives she touched.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to a pig sanctuary or farm of your choice, in honor of Janet’s love for animals and her generous spirit. One such organization is the Pig Placement Network, which rescues and rehomes pigs in need. Donations can be made at their website: www.pigplacementnetwork.org/help/donate.

My heartfelt condolences to Jason, Jessica, Rebecca and Ryan. Also to Janet's grandchildren and extended family. I've known Janet for many, many wonderful years. She was always fun, hard working, and determined. No matter what the circumstance, she always had your back. Janet was a survivor. She was tuff on the outside to mask the many scars she endured on the inside. In the end, she was a good person who did the very best she could for her family first.

Our sincere condolences to your family. I worked with Janet at several establishments and she was definitely a hard worker. And quite the cook. She loved talking about her grandchildren and was very proud of her family. May she RIP

My condolences to Becka, Jessica, the other siblings and all of the family for the terrible loss. Even though I never had the pleasure of meeting Janet, she sounded like an exceptional person.
