Obituary

Charles “Chicky” Chicarilla of Edison, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother in law, uncle and friend, passed away peacefully on September 15, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Born on September 1, 1966, in Orange County, California, Charles lived a life filled with love, laughter, and countless cherished memories.

The son of the late Jack and Jennie Chicarilla, Charles was raised in a home that valued kindness and community, lessons he carried with him throughout his life. Known affectionately as "Chicky," he had an innate ability to make everyone feel welcomed and valued, a true testament to his warm and generous spirit.

Charles was a loving husband to Jamie Chicarilla (née DeFuria), with whom he built a beautiful life filled with love. Together, they raised three wonderful children: Anthony, Nicholas, and Sydney, who all brought immense pride and joy to his life. As a grandfather to seven grandchildren Charles found a new depth of happiness with the birth of Ava, Sophia, Dominic, Emma, Jack, Charlotte, and Luke. He is also survived by brother and sister in-laws Debbie Kugel, Jerry & Kathy DeFuria, Kelly & Jim Piereth, Anthony & Helene DeFuria, Mia & Ted Lapka; Nieces and Nephews Lindsay, Michael, Jordan, Gabrielle, Daniel, Steven, Joe, Jillian and Rachel.

Chicky's passion for sports was well-known amongst his family and friends. A loyal fan of the Miami Dolphins and the NY Mets, his enthusiasm was infectious, often igniting spirited discussions and friendly debates. He also carried this passion into his love for golf.

Beyond his love for sports, Charles will be remembered for his quick wit and ability to engage anyone in conversation. His humor and charm were unmatched, leaving a lasting impression on everyone he met. Charles had a unique gift for finding common ground with others, building friendships that spanned a lifetime.

Predeceased in death by his parents, Jack and Jennie Chicarilla, and his in-laws, Gerald and Joan DeFuria, Charles leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter that will continue to inspire all who knew him. His family finds comfort in the countless memories and the enduring impact he had on their lives.

His memory will be forever cherished, and he will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
