Obituary

Anthony Russell (1952-2026)

Anthony Russell, 73, of New York, NY, died peacefully on Friday, February 27, 2026.

Anthony was born in Newark, New Jersey in 1952, where he graduated high school, before embarking on a lifelong adventure of travel and discovery. He trekked across the globe before landing permanently in New York City, the place that he loved the most. He enjoyed a prolific career as a musician, writer, and stylist, but perhaps was most renowned and beloved for his remarkable ability as a psychic medium and reader. His legion of clients remained faithful to him over many years and readings, and he was often generous with his gifts to help others in need.

Anthony was a lifelong student, having completed college in New York City and graduate programs in Psychology. He was gracious with his time and volunteered his efforts to support pediatric cancer patients. Above all, he was an upstanding man and a loyal friend full of life, laughter, and an infectious enthusiasm that brought people together in good spirit.

He will be dearly missed by all who had the extraordinary fortune to have known him.

I write this message with a very heavy heart to hear this news. We shared many adventures together over the years. His sense of humor was a riot. If I was sad he always sought to give comfort. He will live forever in my heart and memories, Hail the traveler. Our time together was too short.

Anthony was an important friend of mine. He helped me grow through my high school and college years. We drifted apart and I moved to Chicago. We reconnected after 50 years and we picked up where we left off as if only a few days had passed. We exchanged phone calls, letters and Zoom calls. My wife and I met Anthony for lunch near his apartment in September, and he was his kind, sincere, direct and humorous self. My wife Mary became his instant friend! I had hoped to enjoy our renewed friendship for years more, and will always feel his loss keenly. He lived life as an adventure and was a joy to be with.
